Nick joined Greenwich Council’s Leader, Chris Roberts, to inspect the Crossrail developments in Woolwich. After a long-running campaign to secure the Woolwich station as part of the Crossrail scheme, an agreement was reached between TfL, Crossrail, Berkeley Homes and Greenwich Council for the construction of the Woolwich station box. Nick was delighted to see that work is well underway on the Crossrail site, and that the station is on track to open in 2018.

A Crossrail station will put Woolwich seven minutes from Canary Wharf, only 22 minutes from the West End, and under an hour from Heathrow. This will bring huge benefits to Woolwich, increasing job prospects and bringing economic prosperity to Southeast London.
