Extra funding for primary school places

Nick welcomes news that Greenwich and Woolwich will receive extra Government funding to provide more primary school places.

The Department for Children, Schools and Families has announced that Greenwich borough will be allocated an extra £1,943,000 to support the provision of extra pupil places.

The London Councils group, which represents Greenwich, raised concerns about London’s primary places shortage with the Government last November.

Nick says: ‘I am delighted that the Government has listened to Greenwich’s concerns about the shortage of primary school places. The extra funding will mean additional places and ensure that parents’ needs are met. Coupled with sustained investment in school buildings over the past decade and record numbers of teaching staff, I am determined to see that all children receive the best possible start in life’.
