Local Government Finance Bill slammed as incomprehinsible and ill-considered

Nick today warned of the grave consequences of the Government’s Local Government Finance Bill. Despite cloaking itself in the language of localism, the Bill gives huge powers to the Secretary of State and takes local revenue decisions away from local Councils. Speaking in the House of Commons this evening, Nick went on to attack the Government’s plans to cut council tax benefit - affecting millions of vulnerable families who depend on this revenue - as rushed, ill-considered and without adequate consultation.
