Newlands Pharmacy Opens!

Newlands Pharmacy

Nick Raynsford was today invited to officially open the brand new Newlands Pharmacy on the Peninsula, Greenwich.

Newlands Pharmacy offers a range of services, including prescriptions, blood pressure monitoring, smoking cessation, flu vaccinations and nursing residential care. It is situated on the Greenwich Millennium Village site, one of Europe’s largest regeneration projects, offering affordable eco-housing to over a thousand residents.

Nick said: ‘I am very pleased to be here today and to have been invited to open this wonderful new facility. Newlands Pharmacy is a state-of-the art building that I am sure will offer a valuable and essential service to the people living here on the GMV. Residents here will agree that the GMV is quickly becoming a village in the true sense of the word. The village square is now mostly complete with only the shop fronts outstanding, creating opportunities for a good selection of retailers to the site’.

Nick first became involved in bringing the pharmacy to the GMV in 2008. He attended an appeals hearing over permission for the pharmacy to open and wrote to the then Secretary of State for Health with his concerns about the bureaucracy of the appeals procedure.

Mr Vijay Vasu, owner of Newlands Pharmacy said of Mr Raynsford: ‘I’m proud to say he’s our local MP. He’s helped us enormously to get us where we are today. Now we look forward to the future and working in partnership with the Primary Care Trust’.
