Nick congratulated Meridian Primary School at the Greenwich Sportathon for winning a fantastic first place. Nick also gave runners-up Brooklands Primary School a deserved well-done.

Children from every primary school across the borough participated in this year’s annual Sportathon. The competitions involved a range of sporting activities and team-building activities. These included an army assault cause and football hosted by Charlton Athletics FC.

Nick says: ‘The Sportathon is a fantastic opportunity to inspire all children in Greenwich and Woolwich to become actively involved in sport. It is particularly welcoming that every school chose to take part. My congratulations to all children, and to Meridian School in particular, who demonstrated the passion and spirit that the 2012 Olympics will undoubtedly bring to the borough’.
