Nick Raynsford MP Welcomes Record Results from Greenwich Primary Schools | |
Nick Raynsford, MP for The figures show that a record number of pupils have made the grade and achieved Level 4 this year in English, Maths and Science. In 1997, when Labour first entered government, the average of children reaching this level for English, Maths and Science in Nick says: ‘I want to thank all children and staff in schools across Over the last decade, Labour’s investment in schools of more teachers and teaching assistants has seen a huge increase in the number of pupils across Greenwich getting to the expected level by the end of primary school – up from just an average of 53% in 1997 to 80% today. But these record improvements would be put at risk by cuts to education and investment in schools if a Tory government were elected. I am particularly concerned by Tory proposals to force 11 year olds who don’t make the grade to repeat the final year of primary schools. This would lead to bigger class sizes and stigmatise children. That’s why I support the Government’s announcement to roll out one-to-one and small group tuition to act early to support children who are falling behind’.
