Nick welcomes drop in crime

Nick recently met with Greenwich Council’s Head of Community Safety, Matthew Norwell, to discuss crime levels across the borough.

Nick welcomes recently-released statistics that show that crime is continuing to fall across the constituency. Personal robbery offences are down by nearly 23% compared to last year, assault offences have fallen by 14%, whereas burglary and serious violent crime are both down by 7%.

Nick says: ‘During tougher economic times, boroughs can often expect to see their crime levels rise. I have been monitoring crime patterns levels across Greenwich and Woolwich and meet regularly with the Borough Commander, the Probation Services and Greenwich Council, to talk about what measures are being taken to keep crime down. I am very pleased to see that crime is continuing to fall and is significantly down from last year and is much lower than in neighbouring boroughs. However, we must not be complacent because every incident of crime is a tragedy for the victim involved, and I shall continue to keep a close eye on the situation’.
