Success for Greenwich Schools: Two of the top most improved in England

Nick today welcomed news that two schools in Greenwich are in the top 100 most-improved schools in the country as measured by success at Key Stage 4 with children achieving at least five GCSEs, including English and Maths, at A*-C.

St Ursula’s Convent School in Greenwich is the tenth most improved school in the whole of England with a 30% improvement in results between 2006 and 2009. Kidbrooke School came 64th with a 21% improvement in results.

These results reflect the overall improvement in education across Greenwich & Woolwich since Labour entered government in 1997. GCSE and A-level results have risen and Greenwich students now achieve results above the national average at A-level.

Nick says: ‘I am delighted to see the recognition accorded to the exceptional improvements achieved by these two schools. My warmest congratulations go to the pupils, teachers and parents at these schools which have delivered real improvement over the last few years. Labour has invested heavily in education since 1997, with extra teachers and resources; this is further proof that the investment is paying dividends for the future of these children’.
